A Retrospective Look at How the Presidential Candidates Stacked Up

The candidates have filed their campaign-finance reports for the fourth quarter of 2007, covering the period from October 1 to December 31.
A Democratic rundown:
- Hillary Clinton raised more than $26 million, the most of any candidate.
- Barack Obama raised more than $23 million.
- John Edwards, who dropped out of the race on January 30, raised nearly $5 million and borrowed nearly $9 million.
- Mike Gravel’s report was not yet available.
A Republican rundown:
- Ron Paul led the GOP pack, with nearly $20 million in contributions.
- Rudy Giuliani, who dropped out of the race on January 30, raised more than $14 million.
- John McCain raised nearly $10 million. He also took out a $3 million loan (and a corresponding life insurance policy that was required as part of the deal), The Washington Post reports.
- Mitt Romney raised $9 million and loaned his campaign $18 million in personal funds.
- Mike Huckabee raised $6.7 million.
- Alan Keyes raised less than $200,000.
