John Catsimatidis, a bundler for Democrat Hillary Clinton, says that donors and bundlers who had supported Clinton are now contributing to and raising money for her rival, Barack Obama, the New York Observer reports.

Catsimatidis, the owner of the Red Apple Group, has said that he will enter the New York City mayoral race in 2009 — as a Republican, some reports have suggested — and bankroll his own campaign.

The Federal Election Commission tells Republican John McCain that he cannot forgo primary matching funds until he assures the agency that he did not use the promise of those funds as security for a $4 million campaign loan from Fidelity & Trust Bank. The McCain campaign says the FEC has no right to stand in the way of its early February decision to withdraw from the federal matching system, the Associated Press reports.

Democrat Hillary Clinton’s campaign says that it raised $15 million in the first 15 days of February, ABC News reports. The fundraising surge comes after Clinton revealed that she had loaned her campaign $5 million.
