Democrat Barack Obama is tops among presidential candidates in making contributions from his leadership PAC to state and local committees and candidates, especially in early-voting states, Congressional Quarterly reports. A third of the PAC’s donations have been spread around Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina.

Democrats John Edwards and Barack Obama make a point of saying that they don’t accept contributions from political action committees, but the gestures don’t mean all that much, The Politico, a Washington-based political newspaper, reports. The $2.6 million that PACs have given to the major presidential candidates this year accounts for only 0.7 percent of their receipts. Hillary Clinton has accepted $747,000 in PAC money, the most of any candidate, but it makes up less than 1 percent of her total contributions.

Robert Farmer, the powerhouse Democratic fundraiser, is leaving Barack Obama’s presidential campaign for Hillary Clinton’s, the Associated Press reports. Farmer, who was a top fundraiser for Bill Clinton in 1992, reportedly angered higher-ups in Hillary Clinton’s campaign when he signed on to Obama’s national finance committee in January.
