Perfect Match

The Federal Election Commission has approved matching funds for six presidential candidates. Democrats Joe Biden, Chris Dodd, John Edwards, and Dennis Kucinich, Republican Duncan Hunter, and independent Ralph Nader will receive more than $7 million collectively for their campaigns, bringing the total of matching funds approved for the 2008 election to about $26.7 million.

All four U.S. Senators running for the Democratic presidential nomination are co-sponsors to a bill that would reform the public financing system for presidential candidates by the 2012 cycle, reports CQ Politics. The bill proposes to increase the matching fund ratio, raise spending limits, and require campaigns to disclose the names of bundlers who raise more than $50,000 in a four year period.
