Hillary Clinton is throwing 200 of her biggest fundraisers Barack Obama’s way Thursday night in Washington, The New York Times reports. In return, Obama has asked his top donors to consider retiring the Clinton campaign’s multimillion debt.

Now that Barack Obama has encouraged his donors to help Hillary Clinton pay off her debt, Congressional Quarterly points out that other former Democratic candidates could use the assistance as well. Joe Biden is $1.2 million in debt, Chris Dodd has $387,000, Bill Richardson still owes $285,000, and John Edwards has yet to pay back $21,000.

Barack Obama asks members of his finance committee to help Hillary Clinton pay off her vendor debt, estimated at more than $10 million, Time reports. In a conference call to donors, Obama insisted that Democrats are “one big family” and praised Clinton’s historic run for the presidency.

On a private conference call, Hillary Clinton said “the stakes are too high” to not help Barack Obama get elected president, and urged her top fundraisers to put their full support behind him, Talking Points Memo reports. She also asked for help relieving her campaign debt, but clarified that she was not asking them to pay off her personal loans.
