Revealing Act

John McCain’s campaign will disclose more information on its website about top fundraisers, The Associated Press reports. The move complies with a letter by eight campaign finance watchdog groups sent to both McCain’s and Barack Obama’s campaigns requesting that they identify specific amounts for each fundraiser, rather than the threshold amount. The Obama campaign has yet to respond.

The New York Times called out the Barack Obama and John McCain campaigns on the state of their bundler lists, both months out of date. In response to inquiries from The Times, the Obama campaign added 181 names to their list, and a spokesman for the McCain campaign said they’d release more names “in the next week or so.”

John McCain celebrates his best fundraising month yet, pocketing $22 million for June, The Associated Press reports. The Republican National Committee collected over $25 million for June, bringing the total of McCain and RNC funds to $95 million cash on hand. For the month, McCain’s lucrative fundraising has allowed him to outspend rival Barack Obama in battleground-state advertising; Obama has not yet reported his June numbers.

ProgressiveAccountability.org, formerly the third-party group Progressive Media USA, has reconstituted itself as an anti-John McCain research organization, Talking Points Memo reports. Instead of spending money on ads, which Barack Obama has condemned, the group will focus on tracking McCain’s record and policy proposals.
