Republican Rudy Giuliani’s campaign is shelling out $314,000 on its first television ad buy, according to The Atlantic’s Marc Ambinder. The ad, “Tested,” begins airing Thursday across New Hampshire.

Republican Mitt Romney has spent more campaign cash than any other presidential candidate, especially in the key states of Iowa and New Hampshire, The Politico, a Washington-based political newspaper, reports. In Iowa and New Hampshire, Romney has spent nearly $5 million, compared with GOP front-runner Rudy Giuliani’s $150,000. (Giuliani’s spending is focused more on Florida, where it tops $1.6 million.) Barack Obama is the biggest spender among Democrats but trails Romney by about $10 million.

Rudy Giuliani is still drawing paychecks from Giuliani Partners, the New York-based security consulting firm that he promised to leave this past spring to focus on his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination, The Washington Post reports. (The company paid Giuliani about $4.1 million last year.) While Giuliani’s campaign maintains that the arrangement is legal, Scott Reed, an unaligned GOP political consultant, describes it as “a lawyer’s nightmare.”
