Close Call

Former Democratic rivals Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton joined forces in the Big Apple yesterday, netting over $4 million for the Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee, The Associated Press reports. But the presumptive nominee nearly forgot to uphold his part of the bargain: to urge supporters to help Clinton retire her millions in campaign debt.
Obama dodged potential criticism by taking the stage for a second time; he quieted blaring speakers and a 1,000-strong crowd, and delivered an ad-hoc plea for fundraisers to shovel out some money for the defeated senator.
