Friends With Money

Barack Obama’s campaign will recruit Hillary Clinton’s top fundraisers if Obama clinches the Democratic nomination, The New York Times reports.
Clinton fundraisers say it would be “relatively easy” to convince big-ticket donors to redirect their dollars to Obama’s general election campaign, according to The Times.
One reason the Obama campaign needs the money: They’re worried about the dirty politicking to come. As Stephanie Mencimer reports this week for the Buying of the President, using opposition research to smear an opponent is a powerful tool.
“I think the Swift-boating is what everybody fears, that they’ll be running countless TV loops of Reverend [Jeremiah] Wright,” one fundraiser told The Times.
