Robert Farmer, the powerhouse Democratic fundraiser, is leaving Barack Obama’s presidential campaign for Hillary Clinton’s, the Associated Press reports. Farmer, who was a top fundraiser for Bill Clinton in 1992, reportedly angered higher-ups in Hillary Clinton’s campaign when he signed on to Obama’s national finance committee in January.
His departure comes as the Obama campaign is under fire, especially from gay and lesbian activist groups, for hosting events that feature gospel singer Donnie McClurkin, who says he is in “a war of purpose” against “the curse of homosexuality.” Farmer is openly gay.
