The crew of 2008 presidential hopefuls racked up a total $900 million in campaign costs through May, The New York Times reports. That’s about $470 million more than was spent in the 2000 primary races.
Notably, nearly $85 million of Barack Obama’s funds have fueled the media and consulting firm GMMB. Verizon Wireless has also pocketed over $4 million for wireless service to campaign staffers.
