A new 527 organization, The Fund for America, will funnel money from liberal individuals and organizations into radio and television advertisements and direct-mail campaigns, according to The New York Times and Roll Call, a Washington-based political newspaper. In what the Times calls “the first step in that effort,” a group that included liberal financiers George Soros and Steve Bing met two weeks ago at Washington’s posh Mandarin Oriental hotel to discuss strategies for shoring up the eventual Democratic presidential nominee.
