To Take or Not To Take: That Is the Question

If Barack Obama opts out of public funds for the general election, it could tarnish his “reformer” image, adding fuel to the Republican fire, Bloomberg.com reports.
But Democratic strategists are calling him crazy not to push ahead with his own fundraising, which tops John McCain’s by nearly 300 percent to date. If Obama does take the $85 million in public funds, he’d be cushioned by the simultaneous Democratic National Committee campaign spending on behalf of the party; the DNC currently lags $36 million behind the Republican National Committee.
