Hillary Clinton - Democratic
Hillary Clinton, a Democrat, is the junior U.S. senator from New York. She is married to Bill Clinton, the 42nd president of the United States, and was the first lady from 1993 to 2001. She practiced law in Arkansas for nearly two decades, and in 1978 was appointed to the board of the Legal Services Corporation by President Jimmy Carter. That year, Bill Clinton was elected governor of Arkansas and Hillary became the state’s first lady. She kept her job as partner in the Rose Law Firm, based in Little Rock, throughout both of her husband’s governorships, from 1979 to 1981 and from 1983 to 1992.

Presidential Campaign
Clinton declared her candidacy on January 20, 2007, through a video message on her campaign website. She withdrew from the race on June 7, 2008.
