Joe Biden - Democratic

Joe Biden, a Democrat, is the senior U.S. senator from Delaware. Before that, he practiced law. Biden has also been a law professor in Delaware since 1991. His wife, Jill, is a schoolteacher.

Committee Assignments

In the Senate, Biden chairs the Committee on Foreign Relations and is on the Committee on the Judiciary.

Presidential Campaign

Biden declared his candidacy for the presidency on January 7, 2007, on a taping of NBC’s Meet the Press.  He withdrew from the race on January 3, 2008, after the Iowa Caucuses.
