Mitt Romney - Republican
Mitt Romney, a Republican, was a one-term governor of Massachusetts. He was the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in 1994 and did not seek reelection as governor in 2006. Romney founded Bain Capital, a Boston-based venture capital firm, in 2001 and was the president of the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. His wife, Ann, has been a member of the boards of several charitable organizations.
Presidential Campaign
Romney announced the formation of an exploratory committee on January 3, 2007, and on February 13 declared his candidacy for the presidency at a press conference in Michigan. He announced he the end of his campaign on February 7, 2008.
